KLONDIKE VISITORS ASSOCIATION

The Klondike Visitors Association began as a small museum and historical society. Over time, it developed into a non-profit organization that supports and promotes tourism in Dawson City. Its name reflects this role and helps identify Dawson as a place connected to Klondike history.

The Association offers unsupervised access to free mining claims for visitors who want to try to pan for gold. This gives people a chance to experience a part of Klondike history directly, using claims set aside for public use.

KVA’s work contributes to Dawson City’s seasonal economy. Many people have found summer employment through the Association’s activities and stayed in the community long-term after arriving for seasonal work.

Through its origins in local heritage and its continued involvement in tourism, the Association has played a steady role in shaping how visitors encounter Dawson City and its connection to Klondike history.
